Meet Mahek Sadiq, a fourth-year doctoral student making notable advancements in Biomedical Engineering.

Sadiq specializes in 2D nanomaterials for cancer research, creating innovative biosensors for early diagnosis. Her work earned top prizes, including first in the sixth annual North Dakota Biomedical Engineering Symposium. 🔬👏

“Witnessing patients with advanced-stage cancer that had metastasized to different organs due to late diagnosis, often linked to the absence of early symptoms deeply impacted me, sparking a growing interest in cancer research,” she said.

Sadiq envisions a future in academia, blending research and education to propel biomedical advancements.

The Grand Challenges marketing and communication research team is fortunate to have the assistance of Ishan Kodagoda Peiris, communication graduate student, and Sara Cramer, business student. The interdisciplinary team led by Dr. Rajani Ganesh Pillai and Dr. Elizabeth Crisp Crawford is exploring consumer perceptions of messaging related to nanotechnology in health innovations.
