Inclusive accessibility. Community Partnerships. Responsible Growth.

I announced my run for the Park Board sharing how I've spent the last 8 years serving the FM Area as a community builder and entrepreneur. Through those experiences, I have built community partnerships, pursued big ideas, and brought curiosity/optimism to my life and those around me. I planned to bring those same values to the Fargo Park Board and to pursue the campaign the same way I've built a business and community events.

After consideration, I have decided to withdraw my candidacy for the Fargo Park Board to focus on my new marriage, job, and the establishment of a non-profit. Because of this, I am not able to give the campaign and service on the Park Board the time and attention they deserve.

I'm deeply grateful for everyone who has come alongside me to support the campaign. Likewise, I'm excited for the future of our Parks! They are at a pivotal time but setup for success with a new Executive Director, a good strategic planning process, and the future board members who will be elected in June. I look forward to learning more about the other candidates running and watching the Park Board lead our community in the coming years.

My middle daughter is in middle school, sixth grade. Tonight was parent teacher conference night and so I brought the clipboard to collect signatures while I was waiting in line. I had so many fun conversations with different people about what their favorite thing about the parks was which was the question I asked each of them as they were signing. I heard all sorts of wonderful stories about community events, picnics, a direct support professional, who brings clients to the flower gardens….

Questions about soil health and what types of chemicals are used on the park grounds, where are all the indoor basketball courts, etc. It’s so much fun to hear about the broad perspective and impact that the parks have in our community and how that impacts each of us in different ways.

So I’ll leave you with this question, what’s your favorite thing about the Fargo parks?

If you believe that:

Parks are the heartbeat of our community for us all.
Partnerships with local businesses and service organizations should shape and support their future.
Bold ideas should drive growth but not in a way that puts a burden on the tax payer.

Glad you're here!

My name is Peter, and I'm running for the Fargo Park Board. I grew up in North Dakota, and have lived in Fargo for most of my adult life. Except for the two times I lived overseas, but that's another story.

Eight years ago, I moved back to Fargo. I was inspired by the growth I saw as well as all the energy around community building, entrepreneurship, and the arts. I threw myself into that community, started a business, and launched a non-profit.

I'm running for the Park Board because I care deeply about Fargo. I have a proven track record as an entrepreneur and community builder. My success came because I pursued big goals, built effective partnerships, and approached each challenge with curiosity and optimism.

Our parks are at a unique and opportune time. We have an amazing, progressive executive director who was hired recently. In a few short months, the Park Board will have completed a strategic plan for the coming years. There are several major projects underway, and my guess is more to come.

Our park board needs leaders who can push for bold ideas while growing responsibly. It needs leaders who can embrace those ideas without losing sight of the existing neighborhood facilities.

I believe our parks should embody inclusivity and accessibility. Community partnerships with businesses and service organizations should challenge and walk alongside the park staff in projects. WE should grow boldly but not in a way that puts a burden on the tax payer.

Inclusive accessibility. Community Partnerships. Responsible Growth.

If those values resonate with you I'd love to have you join me in this campaign.
