Happy Pride Month from everyone at FMDG! We are thrilled to uplift and celebrate our LGBTQ+ community members and to participate in a sport that is as welcoming and inclusive as roller derby!

Fun fact: although June is recognized as Pride Month, here in the Fargo Moorhead area we hold pride celebrations in August so community members are able to participate in Pride in other areas as well. If you’d like to extend your pride experience, we would love to see you at our home bout on August 1, where we will be celebrating Pride Month, Fargo Moorhead style!

After many unforgettable years, countless memories, bruises, victories, laughter, road trips, late-night practices, and lifelong friendships, the time has come for us to say goodbye.

Today, with heavy hearts and immense gratitude, we’re sad to announce the closing chapter of the Sioux Falls Roller Dollz.

What started as a group of passionate individuals in 2006 quickly became something so much bigger than a sport. We became a family. A community. A place where people found strength, confidence, belonging, and purpose. Together, we built something fierce, supportive, empowering, and unforgettable.

To every player who ever put on our pink and black colors: thank you. Thank you for your courage, dedication, resilience, and heart. Thank you for showing up exhausted after long days, for pushing through injuries, for learning, growing, competing, and supporting one another both on and off the track. Every single person throughout the eras who skated with us left a mark on this team and helped shape its story.

To our coaches, referees, NSOs, volunteers, and board members: there are truly no words big enough to express our gratitude. So much of what happens behind the scenes often goes unseen, but this organization would never have existed without your endless hours of work, leadership, sacrifice, patience, and belief in what we were building. You gave your time, energy, and hearts to keep this team alive year after year, and we are forever thankful.

To our fans and supporters: thank you for cheering loudly, showing up faithfully, buying tickets, sharing our events, donating, fundraising, and believing in us. Whether you attended one bout or every single season, you helped create the electric atmosphere that made roller derby in the Sioux Falls community so special.

To our sponsors and community partners: thank you for investing in us, believing in us, and helping us continue this journey over the years. Your support meant more than financial assistance - it showed us that our community valued what we stood for and what we brought to the sport and to each other.

Roller derby gave us so much more than competition. It gave us confidence. It gave us empowerment. It gave us friendships that will last a lifetime. It gave people a place to belong exactly as they were. It gave us moments we will talk about forever- the wins, the losses, the traditions, the travel stories, the after-parties, the tears, and the triumphs.

While this chapter is ending, the impact this team made will never disappear. The friendships built here, the lessons learned, and the lives touched will continue far beyond the final whistle.

To everyone who was ever part of this journey in any way - thank you for helping create something truly special.

We may be hanging up our skates, but the memories, the love, and the spirit of this team will stay with us forever.

With endless gratitude and love,
- The Sioux Falls Roller Dollz 2026 Board of Directors

We're so proud of you, Mads!

"...you may know her as MadSCAREa, a blocker that smears her opponents for the FM Derby Girls."

Did you turn it off and turn it back on? Behind the Scenes with Maddie, Information Technology

Since joining the City of Moorhead in March 2025, Maddie has become a valuable member of the IT team. Maddie responds to helpdesk tickets across the City and, in her current rotation, works closely with the Moorhead Fire Department, supporting everything from laptops and training to computers inside the firetrucks. She also provides tech support for City Hall, FMC, Public Works, the Hjemkomst Center, our golf courses, and more. Her days vary from desk work to driving the white tech van all over the City, installing equipment and keeping employees connected and productive.

Maddie says the most rewarding part of her job is knowing that even the small tasks make a big impact. She loves helping others, teaching people new things to help make their job easier, building relationships across departments, and supporting the community she grew up in. She also appreciates the flexibility and supportive teamwork within the IT department, and leadership that prioritizes well being and collaboration.

“I feel fulfilled from my job because I get to use my skills to strengthen the City and I know the little things I do can make a huge impact on my community. I get to build relationships with all the different kinds of end-users, from firefighters to the mayor!”

Outside of work, you may know her as MadSCAREa, a blocker that smears her opponents for the FM Derby Girls. Maddie and her fiancé are lifelong Moorhead residents and proud Spuds. She enjoys video games, time outdoors with friends, and caring for her two cats, Penalty and Copper.

Thank you, Maddie, for the energy, heart, and technical expertise you bring to the City every day!
