Crews continue excavating near County Road 22, shaping the channel and building out key flood protection features in the area.

Work at County Road 22 is helping connect multiple parts of the diversion channel, improving how water will move through the system during runoff events.

Work continued in Reach 10 of the stormwater diversion channel, where excavation progressed through challenging clay‑like soil conditions typical in the spring. While progress slowed during March and April, crews also removed another diversion channel plug near 21st Avenue West as work moves forward.

A new compressor building has been installed near the Maple River Aqueduct spillway, supporting ongoing construction and long-term operation of the site.

At the Maple River Aqueduct, the aqueduct’s vertical lift gates will be used to regulate water flow into the FM metro during extreme flood conditions, adding another layer of flood protection for the region.
