IRS announces e-File start date of January 23, 2023 with an April 18th tax deadline this year.

Please make sure to have all your information before filing a tax return. This can help to avoid extensive processing and refund delays as well as avoiding the possibility of needing to file an amended return or even getting the dreaded IRS letter!!

We will be closed today due to the weather

IRS announced today that they will start excepting returns January 24th. The filing deadline is April 18th.

IRS will be sending out 2 forms this year by January 31, 2022 that you WILL NEED for your tax return preparation. The first one is for the 3rd stimulus check received in March of 2021. The second one is for the Advanced Child Tax Credit. Those payments were monthly starting in July if you had kids and did not opt out. Both of those amounts will need to be entered on your 2021 tax return. So if you have your tax return prepared for you, those will be needed by your preparer to do your tax return.

Please remember that even though the IRS has extended the tax filing and payment date to May 17th that ALL state returns are still due April 15th unless the state also changes it.

This change as well as many others retroactive made mid season are creating problems for everyone still doing their taxes. That and tax software programs need time to make changes correctly also.

Then we still have NOT received guidance from the IRS as to how to fix the returns already filed.

For those of you receiving unemployment checks, remember that it is taxable income. I recommend having taxes withheld.
