Slate Brush Design Studio

A little bit of vintage, a little bit of lace, and a whole lot of partying for Devin and Isaac’s incredible day. This is just the sneak peek and I can’t wait to see the full gallery!! So many intentional details were designed throughout the invites and day-of items and I just love how it all turned out 💕

I’ve designed for hundreds of clients since starting S&B, but this was the first time I was able to post using audio from a client’s recorded song!! How cool is that?! 49 Wi******er needs to come to Baltimore on the tour next 👀

Hi! I’m Sarah, the artist behind the 3am emails you receive ✨ It’s been a minute since I’ve shown my face instead of my art, so here are some fun facts about me!

-I love to travel and am up to 36 countries and all 7 continents!
-I keep a packet of mayo in my purse at all times (I call it purse mayo) because I love it so much.
-I haven’t owned/watched TV in years.
-I’ve been taking improv classes and just had my first performance.
-I used to design Halloween costumes at Spirit Halloween’s corporate office (and sadly I don’t even like Halloween).
-I’m addicted to Aquaphor and can’t go 30 minutes without it.
-I think Diet Coke is disgusting but absolutely love regular Coke!!
-My celebrity crush is Gordon Ramsey.
-I’ve done everything from surf camp in Australia, hot air balloon rides in Mexico City, motorcycle rides in Bali, cooking classes in Italy, horseback riding treks in Morocco, wine tastings in Portugal, wedding conferences in London, and so much more while running my business. Most likely I’ve been inspired by my travels and the people I meet when designing your pieces. I bring my laptop and paints everywhere I go ❤️

Has anything I mentioned surprised you?!

When I started Slate and Brush, I knew I wanted to make sure I would be able to incorporate more traveling because my corporate design job didn’t approve of me leaving for weeks/months at a time 😅 So, I made sure to build a business that enables me to work and travel at the same time!

For my 33rd birthday in April, I stayed at in Mexico City where I truly had the best time. Mexican culture, food, and art is so vibrant and colorful and it was truly so inspiring! I purchased an incredible painting from an artist at a market and she invited me to her studio a few days later to tour it and spend some time with her. To be welcomed into such a personal space is such an honor to me ❤️ I also was able to visit Frida Kahlo’s house and learn more about her life and work.

Then I went to Tulum for a reading with and to dive deeper into human design and more in order to build a more aligned business and life. We’re creating something really special together, too ✨

Traveling is such a huge part of my life (Mexico is my 36th country I’ve visited!) and being able to say I’ve designed and painted around the world is pretty cool. Here’s to answering emails on the way to a hot air balloon ride and client calls before a Lucha Libra match, making friends. and being inspired by everything around me!

As a former fashion designer, I might be biased but I love love love how beautiful linen signage looks at a wedding! Especially when it at a gorgeous outdoor venue like . Plus it gives me an excuse to pull out my sewing machine 🙌🏻

A huge congrats to the Medinas on the start of this next chapter as husband and wife 🍾

It’s always Tini Time with Millie ❤️ I painted her lounging in a martini glass holding an espresso martini, and it paired perfectly with the monogramed ice luge. Does it get much better than that?!
