Homebound Hounds

🫒FREEDOM FOR OLIVE 🫒

Olive is finally safe.

She entered Devore shelter as one of five dogs found together in the Yucca Valley desert. Two from their group were euthanized, leaving Olive and her two sisters behind.

Out of the three, Olive was definitely the most timid. While her sisters would jump up at the kennel bars for attention, Olive would stay low and make herself small, sometimes even getting stepped on by them. She just wanted to stay out of the way.

Olive is covered in scars, has super dry, flaky skin, and is scared of pretty much everything around her. Right now, she feels safest in her crate. She’s unsure on leash, unsure of affection, and still trying to figure out this whole new world.

But she is seriously so, so sweet. Everything about her is gentle. Even after only a day, during what has to be one of the most confusing times of her life, she is already more trusting of us than I ever expected her to be. There is not a mean bone in her body. She is just scared and learning that people can be kind and that she is safe.

We also unexpectedly found out she is actually already spayed (the shelter said she was intact) so that is already behind her! She’ll be fully caught up on her vaccines before adoption, and she is also already seeming to be house trained, which has been such a nice surprise.

For now, we’re just letting her decompress, heal, and take everything at her own pace. There is no rush. We’re really excited to see who Olive becomes once she starts feeling safe enough to come out of her shell🥹

If you pledged for Olive, please honor your pledge so we can put those funds directly toward her medical care and rescue expenses.

Lobo had a professional photoshoot with Rhea Dawn Photography and wants to show off his photos.

If you’re looking for a smart, affectionate, adventure-ready dog who just wants to be by your side, Lobo might be your perfect match. He gets along great with other dogs, especially those who enjoy running, playing, and don’t mind a little puppy energy. He’s also great with kids and would make an excellent active family companion.

Lobo is highly intelligent and eager to please, making him a wonderful candidate for continued training and structure. He thrives when he has a person to look to for guidance and would love someone excited to be his trainer and leader.
