π· Here at Kruger Farms, we breed Duroc/Berkshire/Hampshire Cross pigs! π·
We love this cross because it combines some of the best traits from each breed:
β¨ Excellent growth rates
β¨ Strong, hardy animals
β¨ Great feed efficiency
β¨ Exceptional meat quality and marbling
β¨ Calm temperament
Our goal is to raise healthy, well-structured pigs that perform well from pasture to plate.
π
Piglets will be available beginning 6/20!
We have a limited number available, including a few grow-out options for those looking for feeder pigs raised with care.

Well, hello SHEEP π π
We have been busy making some changes, adjustments and additions to the farm this year. One of those adjustments was the addition of DORPER LAMBS.
We have decided to breed sheep instead of goats as we need some w**d eaters that WONT eat our fruit groves. π
π₯Ή We picked this breed because the are fast-growing, highly adaptable breed, low-maintenance care (NO shearing required π€―π₯³), and they are prized for their exceptional meat quality.
π‘Fun fact: They are often called the "Angus of the sheep world". π₯©
We have even made arrangements for a stud to visit once a year. So we don't even have to worry about a RAM ππ₯Ή This will make it a little easier on us and allow for excellent breeding options.
Welcome to the Farm ladies!

Slight change in what we decided to make with whats left from the π.
We found out the last 2 boxes of extra was not just far but rather a lot of bones with meat on them from the butcher so we are making beef bone broth. π€©π₯© We had to get out our biggest pan (60 qts) that we normally use on a propane burned outside and instead use 2.25 burners on the stove!!! π΅βπ«π€―
The 2nd smaller pan has as much of the fat as I could trim off the bones for some more tallow.

Rendering tallow from our π that just got back from the butcher. Batch 2 of 3 (almost 4 gallons of Suet fat and about the same of trimmings processed. Tomorrow we start breaking down the last batch which should be about 6-8ish more gallons of trimmings.

This is why eggs are an essential part of our diet! Eat more eggs π₯ π
Did you know?
Hello everyone. π We know it has been a minute since we posted, but fear notβ¦ we are still here and the farm is ever growing! Not sure where our winter went this year, but it has made us move fast into an early spring.
π Chickens are laying up a storm π₯ π₯ π₯ (F2 Oliver Egger hatching eggs available currently)
π¦ Turkeys are breeding (we do have some breeding sets available for anyone interested in having their own or individual π¦ for processing) Heritage breeds only currently.
French Guinea Fowl have begun laying and eggs are available now.
π· Piglets should be due next month π€
π Goats are doing goats things while they wait for us to let them breed π π
Todayβs current project is rendering beef suet from the cow π we got this week into tallow.
Nutrient Profile: Suet is highly nutritious, containing vitamins A, D, E, K, and B1, plus selenium and choline. Ours was grass-fed and so also high in Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA).
