⚠️ CALIFORNIA CCW RENEWAL REQUIREMENTS CHANGED SEPTEMBER 1

If you're renewing your CCW in San Diego or Riverside County, there are new requirements you need to know about before starting your renewal.

Effective September 1, 2026, California law requires renewal applicants to complete a new Live Scan fingerprint submission as part of the renewal process — even if you completed Live Scan when your permit was originally issued.

San Diego County renewal applicants must also submit a current passport-style photo.

Live Scan processing can take time, so don't wait until your permit is about to expire to begin the process.

Practical Is Tactical provides Sheriff-approved 8-hour CCW renewal training for San Diego and Riverside County applicants, with both in-person and online training options available.
