It provides a quick supply of amino acids to the muscles, making it ideal for post-workout recovery. Casein protein, in contrast, is a slow-digesting protein that forms a gel-like substance in the stomach, resulting in a slow release of amino acids over an extended period. This slow release makes it suitable for sustaining muscle protein synthesis between meals or during periods of fasting, such as overnight.
