WEATHER ALERT | HIGH WIND WATCH

Residents are encouraged to plan ahead for strong winds expected Friday through Saturday. A High Wind Watch is in effect for southern Rhode Island and southern Massachusetts, including the Cape and Islands. Northeast to northerly wind gusts of 50 MPH or higher are possible, and scattered power outages may occur.

A FEW SIMPLE PRECAUTIONS

•Secure or bring inside loose outdoor items.
•Charge phones and other essential devices in case of a power outage.
•Make sure flashlights and emergency supplies are readily available.
•If you have outdoor activities planned, be mindful of changing conditions.
•Consider canceling unnecessary Saturday travel, particularly during the periods of strong winds and rainfall.
•Continue to monitor official weather updates throughout the weekend.

A little preparation now can help minimize inconvenience if conditions become windy.

🚨 Traffic Advisory: Rodman Street and South Main Street

Motorists should expect traffic delays near the intersection of Rodman Street and South Main Street following an overnight structure fire. Emergency crews remain in the area.

Please use an alternate route if possible, slow down near the scene, and follow the directions of officers and other emergency personnel. We’ll share updates as conditions change.
