This morning, members of the Fall River Police Working Dog Foundation had the opportunity to assist at the New Bedford Half Marathon. K9 Roxy and K9 Caide conducted explosive detection sweeps along the race route and surrounding areas to help ensure the safety of all runners, spectators, and staff.
Large public events like this require extensive preparation behind the scenes, and our K9 teams are proud to support neighboring communities whenever needed. We appreciate the continued partnership with the New Bedford Police Department and the organizers of this great event.
This holiday season, we want to thank our incredible community for your continued support of our K-9 teams. Because of you, our working dogs receive the training, equipment, and care they need to serve and protect every day.
From our K-9s and handlers to you and your families, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a safe, happy holiday season.

We’re proud to share that K9 Roxy and K9 Caide have each received brand new K9 first aid kits, which are an important tool to help keep our working dogs safe in the field.
The sturdy cases were generously donated by Firehouse Dogs 501(c)(3), and the life-saving medical supplies inside were provided by Fall River EMS.
This collaboration between organizations highlights the strength of our community and the commitment we all share to protect those who serve — both two- and four-legged.
Thank you to Firehouse Dogs and Fall River EMS for your support and dedication! A special thank you to Fall River Firefighter Duddy for helping make this happen — your support means the world to our K9 teams.

🚨🚨🚨This weekend, K9 Roxy and K9 Caide were hard at work ensuring the safety of the community at the annual Feast of the Blessed Sacrament - Official, in New Bedford, MA.
Both K9 teams conducted thorough explosive detection sweeps of the feast grounds ahead of the event, providing an extra layer of security for one of the region’s most celebrated traditions.
Explosive detection sweeps are a vital part of large event safety. Their work often goes unnoticed but plays a critical role in protecting thousands. We’re proud to support these teams and the mission they carry out.

It was great to see K9 Caide spend some time with the Teen Police Academy, giving students a closer look at the role of working dogs in law enforcement. We’re proud to support him through the Fall River Police Working Dog Foundation and grateful for the impact he continues to make on duty and in the community.

The Fall River Police Working Dog Foundation is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Retired K9 Joseph, a devoted and courageous partner of the Fall River Police Department.
Following a decorated career, Joseph spent his retirement years in a loving home, surrounded by peace, family, and most importantly, his handler, Officer Kevin Lopes, who adored him.
As a foundation built to support working dogs like Joseph, we recognize the deep bond between a handler and their K9, a bond that doesn’t end with retirement, and certainly not with passing. His legacy lives on in the streets he patrolled, the lives he impacted, and the handlers and K9s that follow in his footsteps.
Rest well, Joseph. You’ve more than earned it.
