WEATHER ALERT | HIGH WIND WATCH

Residents are encouraged to plan ahead for strong winds expected Friday through Saturday. A High Wind Watch is in effect for southern Rhode Island and southern Massachusetts, including the Cape and Islands. Northeast to northerly wind gusts of 50 MPH or higher are possible, and scattered power outages may occur.

A FEW SIMPLE PRECAUTIONS

•Secure or bring inside loose outdoor items.
•Charge phones and other essential devices in case of a power outage.
•Make sure flashlights and emergency supplies are readily available.
•If you have outdoor activities planned, be mindful of changing conditions.
•Consider canceling unnecessary Saturday travel, particularly during the periods of strong winds and rainfall.
•Continue to monitor official weather updates throughout the weekend.

A little preparation now can help minimize inconvenience if conditions become windy.

Peter Freitas is August Employee of the Month!

Peter has been a valued member of the SSTAR team for 10 years, serving as Security for our Facilities Department.

Peter has been a dependable and valued member of the SSTAR team, serving as part of the dedicated “late crew” that supports the Health Center and ABH after 4:30 PM. During a time when most staff have finished their workday, Peter helps create a sense of safety, security, and peace of mind for those who remain on site until 6:30 PM. He routinely checks throughout the building and often escorts staff as they leave, ensuring they reach their vehicles safely before returning inside, even when reassured that such care is not necessary.

Peter consistently demonstrates compassion and professionalism, particularly when interacting with patients who may be in distress. He approaches every situation with kindness, empathy, and respect, helping others feel supported during difficult moments.

What makes Peter especially deserving of recognition is his willingness to go above and beyond without seeking acknowledgment. He quietly and consistently supports both staff and patients, making a meaningful impact every day. While very part-time employees are not always as visible as full-time staff, Peter’s contributions are invaluable. His dedication, reliability, and genuine care for others make him truly worthy of appreciation and recognition.

Courtney has been a dedicated member of the SSTAR team for 7 years as a Nurse Practitioner at our Family Healthcare Center.

For many years, Courtney has been an invaluable part of SSTAR, contributing her expertise as both an MAT RN and now as a Family Nurse Practitioner in the Health Center. Her passion for serving the community is evident in the extraordinary care and dedication she shows to every patient. She consistently exceeds expectations, advocating for and supporting her patients with compassion and professionalism. Courtney is an exceptional provider and a highly valued asset to SSTAR.

Courtney fosters positive relationships throughout SSTAR by treating everyone with respect, compassion, and professionalism.
