We are incredibly excited to celebrate 50 years of Sagres Restaurant!

It all started in 1976 when our father, Antonio DaSilva and our uncle, Amadeu Cerqueira, opened the first Portuguese restaurant in the area.
Many years and four generations later, Sagres is still going strong!

It has been an honor to serve our community and we couldn’t have done it without our many loyal patrons - you know who you are and we thank you!

We look forward to celebrating this special anniversary with all of you. Come in to celebrate this milestone with us and cheers to 50 years!

It’s been a privilege, once again, to provide our food to the cast & crew of The Gilded Age (HBO) that is filming in Newport. We hope you enjoyed the food and thank you for your patronage!

In VIANNE, Joanne Harris returns to the world of CHOCOLAT with the long-awaited story of Vianne, which begins six years before she opens her scandalous chocolaterie in the small French village of Lansquenet.

Book Club Menu: Bouillabaisse
"But you mustn’t change a thing. Not a thing, you understand?’
I nodded again. ‘I understand.’
That sound again. Heh. You’d better. Now. Bouillabaisse.
His method of teaching is not unlike that of a master of martial arts, explaining the way of the sword to a pupil from the provinces. He lets me hold the wooden spoon. The rest, for the moment, is out of bounds. ‘Just listen,’ he says. ‘And feel it. Cooking is feeling, not knowing.’
Margot’s shapeless handwriting sprawled across the ragged page. Bouillabaisse de Marseille, it says. One of Cyrano’s favourites.
Louis saw me noticing, and swept away the recipe. ‘First, the aromatics. There’s onion, garlic, fennel, thyme, saffron, cayenne and fresh orange rind. Sauté them all in olive oil, until the scents combine and begin to deepen. You still with me?’"
I nodded.

"The fairy tale-like Vianne is set six years before the events of Chocolat. Harris’s descriptive powers are wonderful whether conjuring Marseille or a pissaladière."
