George Mason University Launches its First Mason Academy with Germanna Community College

George Mason University and Germanna Community College have announced a new partnership bringing the first Mason Academy program to Virginia students. The Mason Academy is a localized guided degree transfer program that is in alliance with a Virginia community college and is part of the Mason Virginia Promise (MVP) initiative.

Mason earns top honor from Campus Pride Index

George Mason University has been recognized as a “five-star premier campus” by Campus Pride Index, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to creating safer LGBTQ-friendly learning environments at colleges and universities. 💚💛🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Mason is one of only 29 U.S. institutions, out of 454 evaluated, with a five-star premier ranking, one of only three in the South, and the only one in Virginia.

“At a university like ours, which is committed to access and welcoming to all, this sends a huge signal to our existing and prospective students,” said Rose Pascarell, Vice President for George Mason University - University Life.

⭐️ George Mason University Class of 2022 by the Numbers ⭐️

🟩 Mason will award more than 9,700 degrees—and about 800 certificates—at the university’s first in-person Spring Commencement since 2019!

🟨 The most diverse university in Virginia, Mason will honor degree and certificate earners from 89 countries, 47 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and foreign military installations!

🟩 Of the projected 6,392 bachelor’s degree earners, 27% report they are first-generation college graduates, an outcome of the university’s commitment to providing opportunities to students of all backgrounds!

🟨 Mason produces a significant number of graduates in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields—38% of this year’s bachelor’s degree earners, and 24% of the 3,199 graduate degree earners.

🟩 The top five undergraduate majors are information technology; psychology; information systems and operations management; computer science; and criminology, law, and society!
