In our contemporary world with all of its uncertainties, an understanding of the basics of mental health and mental health conditions is crucial for those seeking mental health care and support, as well as those providing that support.
Join Megan Souza, Youth and Young Adult Program Coordinator at NAMI Northern Virginia, and Kelly Henderson, Ph.D., Executive Director at Formed Families Forward, as they discuss statistics, basics of common diagnoses, warning signs of mental health conditions, warning signs of su***de, trauma, how to support your mental health, how to support a loved one, and what resources are available.

The Trauma-Informed Community Network (TICN) of Loudoun County is one of 27 TICNs across Virginia dedicated to preventing trauma and supporting those who have experienced adverse childhood experiences (ACEs). We are a diverse group of professionals, partners, and community members working to support the successful implementation of trauma-informed care initiatives across health, human services, and education systems. Our shared mission is to foster a community resilient to trauma, that promotes health, healing, and compassion through collaboration, education, and community engagement. The Loudoun TICN is facilitated by SCAN of Northern Virginia.

Now in its 8th year, the Stronger Together support groups meet in person in Fairfax City, are led by two professional licensed clinicians, and have open enrollment for the school year through May 2022.
Meetings are held two Tuesday evenings a month, 6:30 - 7:30 PM.
The groups are offered free of charge.

In honor of World Kindness Day, we want to encourage youth to apply for a mini-grant.
Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board (CSB) is offering its annual mini-grants for youth-led projects to reduce stigma among their peers, with support from the Su***de Prevention Alliance of Northern Virginia (SPAN), which is funded by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services.
These mini-grants will fund youth-planned, youth-led projects within Fairfax County, Fairfax City, and Falls Church City, to be completed by June 9, 2023. A total of $6,000 is available, for requests not to exceed $1,000 each.
