Four years ago today was my first day without my daughter. Every single day since has been a struggle to find normalcy. A struggle to not blame myself in some way.

4 years to the day. The day when Meredith took a permanent solution to a temporary situation. The day that saw our “last” anything together. The day I found my daughter, my baby, in a way no one should even try to imagine.

Today. After talking of becoming a nonprofit for so long. Today, the letter arrived in the mail. Today, The Blue Heart Foundation (aka: Mer Squares) is officially a 501(c)3. I’m pretty sure that today isn’t a coincidence 💙

PS - In the future, the legal name will be “The Blue Heart Foundation” but we’re sort of operating as both that & Mer Squares at the moment. Stay tuned…

Anyone else? Unhealed trauma triggers all kinds of mental health issues. Therapy can help, as can talking with a friend who “gets you,” hugging an animal, taking a walk or just stepping outside to feel the sun on your face.

The only thing that doesn’t work is doing nothing to confront your feelings. Trust me!
