The City of New Hope is excited to announce our partnership with Empower Inclusion to offer a Growth Through Opportunity (GTO) summer internship! GTO gives adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities the opportunity to learn more about City operations while gaining valuable job skills. Participants will work closely with City departments, including the police department, parks and recreation and public works.

๐ Celebrating a Successful Internship Journey!
The final chapter of our 2023 Growth Through Opportunity (GTO) summer internship in Partnership with the City of Chaska MN - Government and the Orono Police Department successfully ended! It was a moment of immense pride and accomplishment. ๐ The past weeks have been a remarkable journey of growth, learning, and meaningful experiences for our cadets and job coaches!
๐ฑ From day one, our cadets showcased their enthusiasm, dedication, and eagerness to learn. They demonstrated resilience and adaptability, proving their potential to thrive in any professional setting.
๐ We want to extend our gratitude to the city of Chaska and Orono PD for helping us create a network of opportunities and fostering a more inclusive workforce and community. And to our job coaches, Paola Wiechmann and Paul Rapp for their unwavering dedication to providing personalized job coaching which had an immeasurable impact on our cadets' journeys to success!
To our cadets: Let this completion be just the beginning of a new chapter. The skills you've acquired, the relationships you've built, and the accomplishments you've achieved will undoubtedly pave the way for your future success. Remember, the end of one chapter marks the start of another filled with limitless possibilities!

We are beginning year two of our Chaska PD internship and are continuing with Orono PD since their internship first started in 2019! Check out pictures from our GTO cadets getting sworn in at the Chaska City Council meeting this evening! Follow Orono PD and Chaska PD on Facebook to see updates on our cadets throughout the summer as they rotate through different city departments and learn about what it is like to work for a small town.
