So we're going to talk about where AI actually saves me time, what I automate, what I don't automate, what has been worth paying for, what hasn't, and where I think the hype gets way ahead of reality.

One of the questions I get most about AI Club is:

"Are the kids sitting on computers using AI the whole time?"

No. Actually, they aren't on devices at all. That's a program rule.

Kids don't need another hour staring at a screen after school. And clicking buttons inside an AI tool isn't the same thing as understanding what the technology is doing.

So we build.

We use LEGO, Play-Doh, paper, games, crafts, movement and a lot of imagination to explore ideas like patterns, training data, predictions, mistakes and how machines make decisions.

I use my laptop when I need to demonstrate something. The kids don't need one.
The goal isn't to teach children how to use the latest AI app. It's to give them enough understanding to ask better questions about whatever comes next.

AI Game Studio is coming to Evergreen Middle School.

Four Tuesdays this fall, grades 6-8, and every student leaves with a game they built and can explain. AI is the coding partner, not the autopilot: students learn to prompt it, direct it, and debug what it gets wrong.
