Recently, we tested this same batch of cable, coiled up neatly in Mike’s studio. but some folks theorized that perhaps the coiling of the cable would cause issues—so we decided to lay it all out and find out!
TL;DR - cable failed via insertion loss in both coiled & uncoiled tests. we believe the insertion loss was very likely due to the heat (it was a bright summer day & the cable sat in the sun for a few hours).
Otherwise, the results were so close that we came to the conclusion that coiled vs uncoiled makes very little difference!

We recently partnered with Datacenter Dynamics Magazine to take a closer look at how the new CertiFiber™️ Max is helping data center teams certify high-density fiber networks faster, more accurately, and with greater flexibility.
During the session, Jim Davis walked viewers through how CertiFiber Max works, demonstrating its ability to measure loss, length, and polarity across multiple fibers in seconds. He also highlighted what makes the solution truly innovative, including native support for MPO and MMC connectors, field-replaceable UniPort™️ adapters, and the ability to test up to 24 fibers simultaneously, helping technicians keep pace with the growing demands of AI and modern data centers. These capabilities are also reflected in the internal launch materials for CertiFiber Max.
