Medetomidine is being found in the local drug supply.
Ways to reduce risk
•Assume fentanyl may be present — even in other drugs
•Check drugs with test strips
•Use a small test dose
•Try not to use alone
•Carry naloxone
•Use drug checking when possible
Fentanyl isn’t just fentanyl anymore.
Strong sedatives like medetomidine are common, and overdoses may look different and last longer.
Drug checking saves lives.
Safer use saves lives.

Sound Pathways Naloxone Distribution and Overdose Reversals (2024 vs 2025)
We are overwhelmed with gratitude and purpose as we reflect on 2025.
At Sound Pathways Harm Reduction Center, we distributed more naloxone than ever before—and behind every kit is a life, a second chance, a moment that mattered.
This work is more than numbers. It’s people. It’s community. It’s showing up for one another in the moments that count the most.
Every life we serve reminds us why harm reduction isn’t just important—it’s essential. And we will keep showing up, again and again, because every single life is worth it. 💙
