Innovations for Learning is a nonprofit focused on improving literacy instruction in the primary grades. Since 1993 we have pioneered applications for digital devices and one-to-one tutoring via the Internet—connecting teachers to a galaxy of resources to help students learn to read. Our TutorMate program connects more than 5,000 volunteers to at-risk primary grade students through weekly, online reading sessions. These sessions not only benefit students' reading progress and comprehension, but also increase student self-confidence, communication skills, and instill a joy for reading.
