Details. It was fun to come to the studio after being out at the beach and grilling out. It helps to see the fresh line and the playful nature of thick and thin paint

I had fun at the open house of the Arbor House, Arlington Heights with the Bradford Allen team !!!

Beautiful place, and it was the first time I got to see my paintings installed in the lobby and entryways. I even met the flower fairies themselves offering their intoxicating wines. It was an honor to work on this project!

At dawn, the wildflowers rise
from soil that asks nothing of them.
They arrive quietly, as if continuing
a conversation begun long ago.
Gentle petals follow each unfolding,
each one learning the shape of its own becoming.
The garden does not rush them.
It waits the way listening waits,
full already, open to gift, empty.
Colors begin to sing, mixed and layered,
and color answers color, inside and out,
A secret garden gathers itself slowly,
the way memory does when we daydream
The stem remembers the leaf and does not deny it.
The leaf remembers the light and leans back into its warmth.
The wind moves through everything,
keeping no record of where it has been.
Even the heart opens its doors,
allowing the same work to continue within
Nothing here is hurried,
yet nothing is forgotten.
Once, long ago, as a child, you remember, half remember this place,
and a gate opened without a sound.
Since then, the path has kept meandering,
turning us again toward what grows unseen.
Some things fade back into the earth and set,
Others remain as expressions of color,
Inviting us to trust what rises at dawn.
The Arbor House series by Rob Larson is inspired by the flowers that grow in the Midwest. Through a layered painting process, Larson captures their vitality on canvas using bold color and expressive brushwork. Like the flowers themselves, the artwork unfolds gradually, layer upon layer, reflecting the cyclical rhythms of growth and renewal. A constant sense of movement echoes the natural accumulation of soil, stem, leaf, and petal, resulting in richly textured surfaces and beautiful combinations. Unlike the ephemeral blooms that inspire them, these paintings endure, offering a lasting celebration of color, mystery, and vitality within the heart of the architectural space.
