Somebody please remind me why I allow myself to be drawn into this sort of entanglement. Fountain pen and Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Pens on a Stillman & Birn Nova Series Beige sketchbook. I really enjoy the beige toned paper in environments where there is limited lighting or high value. So for the reflected sky on the pond's surface, I added white by filling in between the branches and leaves. I could have also laid a white down before drawing all the small twigs and leaves but sometimes that changes the character of the mark and there is a noticeable intensity of the ink's tone between ink marks directly on the paper as compared to the ink lying on the white pigment.
