The PEDAL (Piano, Empowerment, Diversity, Access, Learning) Project works to rehabilitate pianos for

The PEDAL Project has been operating unofficially for 3 years as founder Rachel Tollett sourced pianos from estate sales and notices of free instruments turned into pianos for her students, classroom, and rehearsal spaces across Chicago and Suburban Cook County. She currently is hoping to place another 50 pianos in the next twelve months. The PEDAL Project works to place rehabilitated acoustic pianos into the hands of students, community centers, schools, and college practice rooms in order to promote music education and remove barriers for musicians who can not personally afford a quality acoustic instrument.
