Get to know our firefighters! This week's spotlight is on Firefighter Riba.
My name is Dalton Riba, and I am the Fitness Coordinator at Evans Fire. I have been with Evans since August of 2018, and my favorite part about being a firefighter is getting to do truck work with my friends. My wife Bri and I have four kids. In my free time, I coach wrestling and enjoy going on family walks.

Summer heat is coming on strong - now's the time to fill up the kiddie pool and stock up on pupsicles.
Some things to keep in mind as we move into a dangerous heat wave over the next week:
The heat in a vehicle can turn deadly within minutes - do not leave pets or kids in the car, even for a quick trip. Always check your backseat when you park.
Asphalt can burn - don't walk dogs in the heat of the day.
Check in on your neighbors that may need extra care or are vulnerable to the heat.
Fire danger will be high - use extreme caution with any heat sources, don't toss ci******es out the window, check for dragging trailer chains.
Drink plenty of water and call 911 if you suspect heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
Listen up my precious little fried nuggets.
An early Summer heatwave will be early summer heat waving this weekend and then Tuesday - Thursday of next week.
Yes we've seen this heat before, but it can still be dangerous, because we're at a mile in elevation with less oxygen and exposed to 20% more UV radiation.
So, the sun literally tries to unalive you here. People drop like flies here, and once you get heat exhaustion or heat stroke, you're more susceptible. Just ask my Mother LOL
So, make sure you take care of yourselves, and your loved ones. Especially those who are extra vulnerable (pets, kids, and the elderly).
The gusty, blowy, microbursty showers & storms will be possible each afternoon and evening producing very little rain.
More relief in the form of cooler temperatures and maybe better chances for rain will arrive late next week. I'm working on the deets.
Be safe. Don't be dumb dumbs. K thanks bye.

Get to know our firefighters! This week's spotlight is on Firefighter/Paramedic Malone.
Hi my name is Taige Malone. I have worked at Evans Fire for about 2 ½ years. I enjoy working at Evans because of the culture and strong work ethic of the firefighter group. I enjoy road biking and running on my days off. I have a wife and 2 boys, and I spend most of my time moving kids around to sporting events on my days off.

Chief DeSalvo would like to give a huge thank you to the members of our community!
On May 21st, we held a swearing in ceremony welcoming six new firefighters to the EFPD family after they completed training. This will ensure we have a minimum of 3 firefighters on both the engine and ladder truck 24/7. Additionally, we promoted a Deputy Chief, a Captain and a Lieutenant. We were also able to hire an Operations and Finance assistant in April. These new positions and promotions will further enhance our services to the citizens of Evans. This would not have been possible without the support of our amazing citizens and businesses who in November showed overwhelming support for the Fire District by approving a 1% sales tax. We do not take asking for additional funding lightly, and promise to honor your support and trust by continuing to be good stewards of taxpayer dollars. Because of your unwavering support, EFPD has a bright future.

Get to know our firefighters! This week's spotlight is on Lieutenant Igli.
My name is Brian Igli and I am a Lieutenant with Evans Fire. I have been with the department for 13 years, and my favorite part about the job is the trust and teamwork that comes with working alongside a solid crew.
Outside of work, I keep busy traveling and getting outdoors—whether that means going abroad or heading for the mountains or a stretch of river closer to home. Most of my time off is spent with my wife and our two dogs camping, backpacking, hiking, or finding our way onto the water.
