The video for ‘brains nor backbone’ is out today! This is a track written for Dustopian Frequencies compilation album ‘Insects.’ The album explores the role of insects in folklore and mythology.
‘Brains nor backbone’ is inspired by Franz Kafka’s The Metamorphosis and the deathwatch beetle, whose namesake ‘tapping’ is sampled in the song. The deathwatch beetles tapping was known as a harbinger of death until it was known that it is actually a mating sound.
The compilation ‘Insects’ is now available on Dustopian Frequencies on limited edition cassette and digital.

Out now on Dustopian Frequencies on limited edition cassette and digital, 'Insects' examines the role of insects in folklore and mythology.
My track on this album is titled 'brains nor backbone,' which is a line lifted from Kafka's The Metamorphosis. The song also samples the deathwatch beetle, whose place in folklore is that it's tapping sound was a harbinger of death, though in reality it was to attract a mate.
