Ok here are the finalized details for the 2026 Duffy's Retro Challenge.
Yes there are a couple revisions! We are going to follow the 2025 format for many reasons. We did not run that late in 2025 and are taking additional measures to increase efficiency even more.

Retro F1 $15
Retro CanAm $15
Each entry includes 1 raffle ticket. Each racer will receive a raffle prize regardless. Those who have attended know that our raffles are Matt's favorite part. Last year we handed out just shy of $5K in race prizes. 100% of all raffle ticket funds are used for prizes.
$500 bounty is awarded if you beat the prior years overall winner. Chance Overholdt was the 2025 overall champion. If you beat him with your overall points, you will receive the bounty and then you would become the target for 2027. In the case that Chance does not attend, the overall winner will receive the bounty and become the hunted. You must race and PAY for all 4 classes to be eligible.
All meals and snacks are provided Friday - Sunday. Anyone that has attended can attest that Leslie and crew go out of their way to make sure there is food at all times. We are going to have a couple added items this year including ice cream on one of the days. Drinks are NOT provided, but our prices are fair and the selections almost endless.
There will not be handout tires this year. That being said, Black Magic tires are NOT allowed, nor is Speed Rubber. With over 1,000 pairs of .820 3/32 tires in stock, we have whatever you need. One positive aspect of our track is that nearly every manufacturer and every compound works. It allows the racer to use the compound that best suits their driving style and still be competitive.
We run a very comprehensive and fair tech procedure. The tech table is run by multiple racers/enthusiasts with 16+ years of retro experience and 50+ years of slotcar experience each. We will be posting videos in the coming weeks with some of the criteria that we will be enforcing and the methods that will be used. All rules are based off of the current IRRA rulesets.
All races will be run on our 1965 American Raceways King Track.
Track power is new and consists of twin power supplies with a cap. Track power is 13.6v. it is very smooth and consistent. There is 1 inch total variance in track length between all 8 lanes with black being the longest. Braid depth is roughly .055". Typically you add around .040" of a guide washer from what you would normally run and you are in the ball park. We carry the Chicagoland spacer with guide stops should you want to have that option. Many traveling racers glue this spacer on and then simply remove when they go home. We just received 200 of them so we have plenty. Braid is a year old and it is very rare to have race delays due to braid issues. The track drives really well!
We have full pit spaces setup for 52 attendees and the ability to set up 20 more if needed. All pit spaces have full power and our facility is well lit. We have 2 restrooms that we try to maintain and keep female and kid friendly. 1 restroom is handicap accessible.
Colorado is a destination state. In our opinion the best state to plan a racing vacation. We are 40 minutes NE of the Denver airport. There are a lot of mainstream hotels within 15 minutes of the raceway. There are plenty of Air BNB's within the same. if you are budget minded there are even a few trucker motels/Inn's within a few miles (maybe bring your own pillow case). If you want to bring a travel trailer or a RV, we have a couple spots where we can set you up at the raceway.
We have a brewery on the same street that is walking distance from the raceway. There is a go kart track on the same street 2 blocks away. There are breweries, eateries, dispensaries, food, shopping all within 15-20 minutes from the raceway. Shelby American Collection Museum, Rocky Mountain National Forest, Estes Park, Meow Wolf are all within an hour of us.
Entries, everyone wants to know how many entries. In 2025 our lowest class had 32 entries and our largest was 36. Right now we have 32 for sure committed and 48 total on the list. If you like retro, this race is as retro as you can get and is structured for competitors of ALL levels of skillset. The culture in the pits is as fun as the competition on the track.
We are adding an auto trader wheeler dealer section this year. This will give racers an area to sell their items they no longer need to other like minded competitors. Don't be surprised if Matt is the first one in line with grandmas American Express. This will be a free service, but we will not be mad at you for using this new money for extra raffle tickets or being a big spender in the parts department.
We encourage spectators, new enthusiasts, motorheads, etc. that want to come hang out and be part of this annual event.
Lastly, we want to thank our early raffle contributors and sponsors. If you are interested in contributing, there is still time.
New Balance - Shoes
Mark Even - Painted Retro bodies (has contributed every year)
CHR (Cap Henry) - Retro CanAm roller
Crutchfield Chassis (Josh Crutchfield) - Chassis
JB Products (Jeff Bonano) - JB Racing Tires
If you need any additional information, just ask. I am sure i have missed something.
Also for all of our "where are you located" fans, our address and information are easily found by simply clicking our name/avatar. But I went one step further and included it at the bottom of the post like I typically try to do. I find it amusing that the question is always asked by the same people that had to navigate and survive traveling across the country with nothing more than a map, road atlas, flashlight and a highlighter.
