Bradford Pears.
While their bright white blooms in early spring might look nice, they come with a laundry list of problems for our local ecosystems and properties. We've laid out the biggest dangers and curated a list of beautiful, native alternatives that thrive in the Greater Augusta area and the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA).

Common landscaping staples seen in the CSRA are often invasive species escaping into local forests and outcompeting native Georgia wildlife. Fortunately, having a beautiful yard and supporting the local ecosystem can go hand-in-hand.

Cold nights are on the way, friends! π₯Ά Here are a few quick reminders to help your plants weather the chill:
βοΈ Cover up: Use frost cloths, sheets, or blankets (not plastic!) to protect tender plants overnight.
π± Water well: Moist soil holds heat better than dry β give your plants a good drink before the freeze.
π‘ Bring it in: Move potted or delicate plants indoors or into a sheltered.
βοΈ Uncover in the morning: Let them breathe and soak up the sun once temps rise above freezing.
Stay warm out there, and letβs keep those greens growing strong! π
