Taking a break for a few days to overhaul this, a vintage Holton C Melody saxophone. Probably hasn't played for over 50 years, and made pre-depression.
Vintage instruments are a unique challenge, and I love the problem solving that comes with them

Acquired an old Ludwig upright piano that was, as a piano tuner put it, not worth repairing anymore.
So, we are taking everything out of it and going to turn the case into something else to sell. Not sure what thay something else will be yet, but it should be pretty

Not the most complicated repair, but an unsightly dent in a trombone gooseneck is important. More than the cosmetic issues, too big of a dent can influence air flow and instrument resonance.
This is after working on it for a while. There will likely always be a scar, but that will face a bit with time, and its more important that the horn functions correctly

Got this Getzen trumpet in after its been sitting for a few years in storage. Needed a complete deep clean and polish, as the slides were either slow or stuck, and the bore was full of dust and dried oil.
A fun and easy maintenance fix was all that was needed to bring this horn back to tip top shape

Ah, the YAS-23. Still one of the best student model saxophones ever made
This one came in from someone who needs it for an orchestra, and its sat in their closet for years and doesnt play
I wonder why

Usually, my shop is the standard fare. Replace pads, remove dents, other typical things
And then i get the random treasure in.
The local production of "The Music Man" is happening soon, and they put out a call for instruments. Someone had this absolute gem of a vintage cornet to use, but it needs to be stage ready. Its dirty, some of the silver plating has rubbed off, but everything still moves fine and most of the plating is still present.
Now I get to clean this so that it will shine under the stage lights
Customer just left needing a recork on the top joint of his clarinet. He also noticed the low notes were taking "a little extra pressure" to seal. The bottom two pads were both missing the skin on pad.
I guess it was more than a little extra pressure
