Being on the road again reminds me of how little I need. Leaving the big beautiful house I just mortgaged my life to and heading out with my trailer and my dogs is a good grounding experience. I'm happy with a bed, my phone and coffee, with my dogs content to be near me.
I don't need much and I don't need one person. I need people. Lots of people. Every person I meet offers me something, a lesson, an open door and a smile, a big hug from Dad and Dar, some do extraordinary things for me, some show up when I'm sad or angry or lonely. It's people I need, in between my retreats into quiet and school.
I'm headed to see my sister who I'm just getting to know. I'm blessed that I can. Love all your people as best you can. And watch out for the lessons on the road!

There's something about traveling alone. I do like sharing my life and on occasion I would like a companion but to be honest my companions of the past were not assets. Except for the kids and dogs! I like peace, I like depending on myself and I like not being scared of pi***ng off a baby man.

a beautiful park road in Georgia with all the fall colors! There's also a good example of why its best not to ride super fast around blind corners! This little road was a highlight of my day.

This trip is about corner mechanics. Yes I rode 5 hours into a gorgeous place in order to practice, why not? After all, I have a motorcycle. Every corner I took today I concentrated on speed into corner, turn in point, apex, throttle out when exit is visible. Over and over and over again. I worked on late turn ins, and pushing the apex out and smooth smooth input baby. What a day. glorious.

Made it to beautiful Helen Georgia! The fall colors are everything I was hoping for and more. I've got a room in a divey motel with good towels and a bathtub that holds water. I had a good ride up here, 5 hours on a perfect route created by my roomie Frank. You want a good route? Just ask Frank! Pics later, hot water and food are next.

Longest day of riding yesterday since I got to Alabama. I'm usually preoccupied with how my lines are or when I turn in, body position etc. but late last night while I iced my aching hip I realized that I'd done dozens of intersections, all with their own unique hazards, negotiated fast multi-lane highways with traffic at speed, did u-turns, abrupt turns, stops and starts, and navigated there and back without dropping the bike or falling the f* off. These things are important. Remember to give yourself credit! It's not all about the twisties.
