We just tapped our first Pumpkin Ale. If you're in Eugene, stop by for a taste, or a pint!. If you like pumpkin, we think you'll like our Pumpkin Ale. It's brewed with organic pumpkin, and a home-made blend of pumpkin pie spices (ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, and allspice).
Hi Friends. This week we brewed our first ever Pumpkin Ale. It's in the fermenters now, and bubbling away. It's a high gravity brew, about 1.070 O.G. (original gravity). It has pumpkin, spices (cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, and ginger), wildflower honey, and organic maple syrup brewed into it. Now we have to wait...
Hi Friends. I want to invite you all to a very special event. Gabrielle, (my beautiful wife and friend) is an awesome writer! On Saturday, March 31, 6:30 to 8:30pm she is launching her 3 book series "The Illyrian Chronicles" at Tsunami Books. I've read the series a couple of times, and it's a great story. It takes you to a distant time and place, that is still easy to relate to, and then it moves you through a fast paced story with unexpected twists and turns.
She'll have copies of the books for purchase (and she'll sign them, of course). She will also have instructions on how to download them for Kindle, and Nook.
And...Cosmic Tortoise brews will be there as well. We have Illyrian Red Ale brewed specially for this event. We will also have Eutopia, a Cascadian Dark Ale for sipping as well.
Come check out her writing and enjoy some of our latest brews. Cheers!
We're kegging, and bottling our Cascadian Dark Ale this evening. 5 gallons is going into the keg, and 5 gallons into bottles and the beer will be conditioned (carbonated) in the bottles. We'll tap the keg tomorrow night, and the bottles will be ready in 8-10 days. Call or message us if you want to come by for a taste!
It's Sunday. And since we brew beer about every other Sunday, there's a 50% chance that we'll be brewing today. And since we didn't brew anything new last Sunday, that means there's a 100% chance that we're in the brewhouse today, cooking up something tasty.
So, what exactly do we have on the brew schedule today?, you might ask. Well, even if you didn't ask, I'll tell you. Today we are exBEERimenting with something new. Have you noticed the recent popularity of CASCADIAN DARK ALE? We have, and we've tried the one called Succession, from HUB (Hopworks Urban Brewery) and it was quite good. So we're in the brewhouse today, creating our own version of a Cascadian Dark (CDA). It's not a copy of Succession, but the good taste of that beer got our creative juices flowing.
Again, thanks to our friends who came by and shared the fun of tasting beer and sipping a pint. Cheers.
Thanks to the friends and friends of friends (who are now our friends also) who came to the tasting last night. Hope you enjoyed the brews. Daniel and I have tons of fun sharing our brews with you. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us to keep improving our ales. Thanks!
The beer tasting is tomorrow (friday) night. Come join us and try our brews. Check out our blog for directions to the brewhouse, and for info about all the fun we have brewing our home brews. cosmictortoisebrewing.blogspot.com
Tasting day Feb 24. One week and one day from now. We hope our friends who couldn't make it to our December tasting will come out and taste and visit with us. And of course, we want the folks who did come in December to come back too! The beers are in various stages of readiness, and they'll all be ready for tasting. Come to 100 Crocker Ln between 6:00 and 10:00 Cheers.
It was brew day today. We started the Mint Blond that tasted so good in the heat last summer. We trying it out to be our Summer seasonal this summer. It's going to be called Emerald Valley Mint Blond Ale. It will be on draft at our February 24 tasting. Come join us for some good beer and conversation. Cheers!
We're bottling Fair Maiden Red Ale for the tasting today. And re-racking or latest version of Orange Chocolate Stout. We'll have both batches of OC Stout at the tasting and we want our friends to tell us which one tastes better! Also, next Sunday, we're starting our Mint Blond Ale. All of it will be featured at the FEBRUARY 24 tasting. Come join us!
So, the red ale is almost fermented. We have tasted it along the way and voila, it tastes very close to how we remember Garnet Red Ale tasting. Yay!
And since this is our own recipe (with the help of our friends at Falling Sky Brew Shop and Pub), in which we are attempting to clone a favorite extract brew we have made in the past. We decided that we should give it a new name. Daniel, idea man that he is, came up with the name "Fair Maiden Red Ale". And of course I loved it. So Garnet Red is now known as Fair Maiden Red Ale. It will be available at our tasting on February 24.
After a month long brewing break for the holidays, and Daniel's birthday (Happy Birthday, Daniel!),we're back in the brewhouse today. Daniel and Matt and I are brewing up a batch of Garnet Red Ale. It's arguably our favorite beer that we brewed when we were brewing from extract. We are trying to approximate the good flavor of that beer, with an all grain recipe. It'll be in the keg in a couple of weeks. Send us a message if you want to come by and taste it. Or, come to the tasting, set for Feb. 24, at the brewhouse!
