Happy Spotlight Sunday!

This week I wanted to go over some commonly used vocabulary for the rough stock rodeo events!

Knowing more these terms can not only make you more knowledgeable but also make every ride more exciting to watch and easier to follow.

I hope this gives you a new appreciation for the skill behind those 8 seconds and gets you excited to come experience it in person at the Eugene Pro Rodeo this year!

There are things in life you don’t think about becoming traditions… until one day you realize they are.

The Eugene Pro Rodeo is one of those things.

It’s the nights that feel like summer should. The same familiar drive. The same seats, or close to them. The smell of the arena, the sound of the announcer, the moment the crowd all leans forward at once. It’s who you came with five years ago… ten years ago… and who’s sitting next to you now.

Thirty-five years of that.

This buckle isn’t about winning anything. It’s about belonging to something.

It’s for the people who never really missed a year if they could help it. The ones who grew up here. The ones bringing their kids now, pointing out the same things they remember. The ones who know that this isn’t just an event, it’s part of their story.

You don’t just buy this buckle.

You look at it years from now and remember the dust in the air, the lights coming on at dusk, the sound of the crowd rolling across the arena. You remember exactly what it felt like to be there.

This is 35 years of memories, wrapped into something you can hold onto.

Lots of big things going on in Eugene this weekend! One of those being the Eugene marathon, half marathon, 5k and kids duck dash!
Yesterday Anna and I made an appearance at Hayward field to cheer on and send off Eugene marathon 5k participants!

A big goal for Anna and I this year was to reach people that would not normally have a window to the rodeo world. So it is always so great to meet new people and have great conversations about rodeo and the western way of life.

We are so proud to be a part of track town USA, with such lovely facilities like Hayward field at our fingertips. Today we ask that you send up a prayer or two for all of the runners to have the strength and determination to get to the finish line after 26.2 miles!

It is such a privilege to have bodies capable of doing such great things!

Here in Eugene we have incredible athletes not only in the rodeo arena but outside of it as-well!

Spotlight Sunday 🌟

This week I want to highlight something so important to the role of being a Rodeo Queen, our horses!

Behind every Rodeo Queen is a horse that carries not only the rider, but the title, the responsibility, and the pride that comes with representing the western way of life. They are our true partners in every sense!

This week, I’m excited to spotlight Clementine, a 5-year-old Mustang and the Eugene Pro Rodeo 2026 Teen Queen Anna’s OHSET horse. She competes in cow sorting and reining at Oregon High School Equestrian Team meets.

Outside of OHSET, Anna enjoys riding Clementine on the beach, trails, and taking her to clinics to keep building their partnership.

Horses like Clementine make it possible to represent this role with confidence and pride.

I had so much fun hearing from Anna Clementine story and I am so inspired by all the work they have put in. I cannot wait to keep seeing them shine this year.

Spotlight Sunday a day late ! ⏰

This weekend I wanted to use Spotlight Sunday to highlight some of the amazing clinicians and more broadly the Miss Rodeo Oregon association, who made this weekend possible!

This weekend, Kyle, Anna and I got to travel to Madras Oregon for a weekend filled with learning and practice. We took advantage of three days of lecturing and horsemanship lessons with our rodeo horses, and we feel so much more confident in our ability to take on the year because of it!

We can’t wait to tell you more about this weekend once the dust settles. In the meantime, we would love to introduce you to some of the amazing clinicians that we got to learn from this weekend!

⭐️Kayla Vincent a past Miss Rodeo Oregon and a top 5 finisher at Miss Rodeo America.

⭐️Lexy Cooley a past Miss Rodeo Washington (2022) and the written test winner and second runner up at the Miss Rodeo America pageant 2023.

⭐️Beth Bahem a past Miss Rodeo Washington (2018) and won the coveted horsemanship award and second runner-up at the Miss rodeo America 2019 pageant.

We would like to give a big thank you to the Miss Rodeo Oregon organization, as well as all the volunteers for making this weekend possible for us!
