๐ A Little Soil Magic at The Training Spot ๐ฑ
We had a mushroom friend pop up under our sign this week โ always a good sign when youโre building soil the right way.
Inside this planter, we placed logs and woody material at the bottom before adding soil. This hugelkultur-style approach helps retain moisture, slowly breaks down to feed the soil, and reduces the need for frequent watering over time.
The mushroom is part of that process โ fungi help decompose the wood and move nutrients through the soil, supporting healthier plants from the ground up.
We love seeing these small signs that a living soil system is doing exactly what itโs supposed to do.
Locally grown. Dog approved. Soil nerd approved. ๐ถ๐ฟ

A simple cleanup and fresh mulch can really change how a space feels. We gave this front yard a reset โ cleaned up the beds, refreshed the mulch, and got it ready for spring.

We had the joy of creating these custom planter beds for The Training Spot โ a local dog training team we absolutely love and trust. ๐พ๐
Designed with dogs in mind โ safe to be around and elevated to protect both paws and plants.
We also chose plants that are low-maintenance and drought-tolerant, perfect for a busy entrance that sees lots of wagging tails every day.
Instead of using drip irrigation, we used a natural hugelkultur-inspired method โ layering wood inside the planters to help them retain water over time. It keeps the roots cool, the plants hydrated, and the care low-effort for the business. ๐ฟ
We finally added this sign to complete the project โ and I had to share it. It turned out too sweet not to.
Happy dogs, happy people, thriving plants. Thatโs the Neighborly way.
If your business needs a welcoming, pet-friendly entrance โ weโd love to help.

โจ Turning New Construction Into a Finished Space โจ
Our client recently completed a beautiful remodel and added this new staircase โ but the space underneath was left as bare gravel and construction soil.
We came in to design and install a shade-loving garden to soften the structure and make this area feel truly finished. Ferns, hellebores, moss accents, natural stone, and river rock were blended to create a woodland-inspired planting that will mature beautifully over time โ low-maintenance, lush, and intentional.
Itโs always satisfying to take a โleftoverโ space and turn it into something living and welcoming. ๐ฟ

๐๐พ Supporting Marissa & Nate ๐๐พ
Many of you know Nate from Neighborly Garden Services and Marissa from The Training Spot. They recently suffered a devastating house fire and the loss of their beloved cats.
Letโs come together as neighbors to support them:
๐ https://gofund.me/fc669dfa1
Our hearts are with our trainer Marissa and her husband, Nate, who recently experienced the unimaginableโthe loss of three of their beloved cats in a house fire.
We want to wrap them in love and remind them theyโre not alone during this difficult time. ๐๐พ
Marissa has always found friendship and comfort in animals. Kibbeth, her first cattle dog brought her to Training Spot, and she discovered the power of positive reinforcement training, which transformed their life.
Marissa has a gift for bringing people together, and now itโs our turn to be here for her. ๐
