Rio Arriba Sheriff’s Office in collaboration with RAC STOP will be providing the public the chance to get rid of potentially dangerous expired, unused or unwanted prescription drugs on Saturday October 28, 2023 from 10:00am to 2:00pm at CVS 1202 North Riverside Drive Española, NM .

National Prescription Drug Takeback Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing prescription drugs, while also educating the public about the potential abuse of medications. The service is free and anonymous with no questions asked.

To help youth to develop the positive life skills needed to avoid destructive behaviors with evidence passed programming, to give parents the skills they need to raise healthy children, who can make informed choices and teach families how to communicate more effectively.

Recently our YCC youth participated in our week-long Power of Influence Mentorship Program. During this mentorship the youth were educated on the difference between prescription drug use, misuse and abuse, and the dangers of opioids. They then had an opportunity to create their own poster with a message to be judged in a poster contest on the final day.

Primary Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Director or designee, the selected candidate will conduct therapeutic and/or educational sessions with individuals, groups, or families by screening and/or assessing program participants, and when appropriate provide necessary referrals to community resource; develops and implements treatment plans based on participant needs. Reports and compliance with Local DWI program screening guidelines will
be completed. Monitoring participant progress during treatment, maintaining a good working relationship with any and all referral sources and refer clients to outside sources or agencies that can better address their specific needs. The employee will participate in team meeting and will update the Program Directors and/or Clinical Director of any concern(s) in a timely
fashion. All HIPAA and confidentiality mandates pertaining to participant’s treatment is mandatory. Substantiating the quality and the continuity of care by maintaining program records, program planning, and policy development is mandatory.

Also, we would like to thank the youth Jacobo, Savannah and Devin along with their parents for allowing them to be part of our AD! Congratulations on your graduation and best wishes for your next adventure!

We would like to thank the following schools; including their administration and teachers, for allowing our Prevention Team to implement evidence based curriculum (Boys Council, Girls Circle and Botvin Lifeskills) in their classrooms for the 2022/2023 School Year.

We value our partnerships with the schools, and couldn't be more appreciative of the support our prevention team received during the school year. Because of this, many of our youth in Rio Arriba County were able to benefit from our services.

We look forward to partnering up with schools once more come the 2023/2024 School Year.

RAC STOP is currently requesting participation from any and all Rio Arriba County community members 18 and up to participate in the annual New Mexico Community Survey (NMCS).
We would greatly appreciate your help taking the survey and sharing it with your family, friends, and anyone you know in Rio Arriba County. Our goal is to reach at least 300-400 individuals. Your participation supports us in our Prevention efforts to better identify & serve the needs of our community members, also helps the State of New Mexico to improve its substance abuse prevention and mental health services by better understanding what is needed and where it is needed!
The NMCS asks questions about alcohol and other substance use, including prescription Opioids, drinking & driving, etc. The survey is completely voluntary, anonymous, and any question may be skipped, and may take 10 to 15 minutes to complete. The survey is available to take online from February 27 thru April 30, 2023, and gives you a chance to win a $100 weekly drawing.
