Started racing Mini 4WD in the Philippines as a kid, running box stock in my friend’s backyard. Then life happened. Moved to the U.S. and completely forgot about the hobby.

Fast forward years later. I went back to the Philippines, bought a GP car, and realized the scene was still alive and thriving. That moment pulled me right back in.

By 2024, I got fully invested. Open class builds averaging around $500 per car across 10 cars, plus Box Stock, BMAX, Advanced builds, chargers, batteries, rollers, carbon, tools, and all the little parts that quietly destroy your wallet. 😂

At this point, I probably should NOT calculate the total.

But honestly, it’s been worth it for the community, creativity, competition, and memories.

People think Mini 4WD is about speed.

But after sitting down with the Suiyo Club…
I realized it’s really about people.

Some of these racers started back in 1995.
Others discovered the hobby in 2019 right before the pandemic.

Different generations.
Different stories.
Same passion.

Of course, we talked about the money too 😅

And one of the funniest moments was when Gil looked nervous answering how much he spent because his wife was standing behind him watching the interview 😂

But all jokes aside, shoutout to her because she fully supports the hobby and the community too. That kind of support honestly means a lot.

Because yes… this hobby can get expensive fast.

But every single person said the same thing in different ways:

The real value isn’t the cars.

It’s the friendships.
The late night testing sessions.
The trash talk.
The laughter.
The brotherhood.
The memories you build together.

That’s the part people outside the hobby don’t understand.

Mini 4WD has a way of bringing people together across ages, cultures, and backgrounds.
