On Aug. 4, Delta County voters will decide on a countywide millage running through 2033. If authorized, the millage would:

• Expand Delta Area Transit Authority (DATA) service to all of Delta County, including the seven townships that currently have none.
• Broaden service hours:
•Monday through Thursday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
•Friday, 6 a.m. to 2 a.m.
•Saturday, 7 a.m. to 2 a.m.
• Open eligibility for state and federal transit funding.

DATA | 2026 MILLAGE FACT SHEET Voters in Delta County will decide on Aug. 4 whether to authorize a countywide transit millage.

In the last fiscal year, our services ran 265 days and our vehicles provided riders 450,539 miles of rides.

That's enough to cross every square mile in Delta County 384 times, take 18 trips around Earth at its equator, or to drive from Escanaba to Miami more than 240 times.

Did you know? On average, people outlive their ability to drive safely by 7 to 10 years.

In Delta County, where seniors already make up 27.5% of the population and are projected to reach 32% by 2040, that gap matters. DATA is more than a ride. It's how our neighbors get to doctor's appointments, the grocery store and visit with friends. Public transit enables people to "age in place."

Many people are surprised to learn that DATA doesn't already serve all of Delta County. Seven townships are currently outside our service area, including Wells Township (home to nearly 5,000 residents) where our vehicles routinely drive through but cannot pick up or drop off riders.

A proposed countywide millage would fund expanded service across the entire county, including weekday service beginning at 6 a.m., and extended Friday evening and Saturday service hours. Learn more: https://databus.org/2026-transit-millage

To book a ride with DATA, all you need is your phone and a destination in mind within our service area.

3 ways to get started:
• Call DATA Dispatch at 906-786-1186
• Text 906-786-1186 and reply START to enroll, then book, confirm or cancel your ride.
• Use the Dispatch number (906-786-1186) to set up the DATA Mobile App. With it, you can check your account balance and track your bus in real time.

We provide on-demand, door-to-door service. Once your ride is confirmed, a vehicle picks you up wherever you are and takes you to your destination, sometimes with additional stops along the way. Rides should be scheduled at least an hour in advance and completed by 6 p.m.
