Last week I posted a pic of my stash of knives in the showcase for the Grind-In... Sold a handful of the overflow but many remain. Here's a pic with numbers so I can post a description and pricing info. I'm moving these to raise cash for another of my passions. Shoot me a note and we can discuss the details.
1. Blackjack Model 3… Stacked Leather with Sheridan Style hand carved sheath. 395
2. Blackjack Model 16 discontinued… Bone White Micarta with Original type (MOLLE) hand impression carved Iwo Memorial sheath and black replacement sheath. 425
3 & 4. BRK/Vehement MACV/SOG Maroon Micarta & MACV/Recondo Stacked Leather with unused original sheaths. 379.95
5 & 6 Scagel / KSF era Hunter (5) & “Fighter” (6) one of a kind with Lignum vitae and white spacers. Includes Hand Carved Sheaths with classic “Scroll & Flower” or “Vine & Leaf” pattern. These are the centerpieces of my “Fancy” collection. I would prefer to keep them together, but I will separate. 1295 for the pair or 695 each, (first pick gets choice of sheaths).
7. Small Scagel/BRK Sheath sample. Unfinished knife used as the pattern for the sheaths.
Includes the prototype sheath. 250
8. BRK Special Hunting Knife… Full Tang. Matt Green Canvas Micarta w/red liner.
Rowland Type Sheath with Cattails. 395
9. Blackjack Model 7… Green Canvas Micarta with “die layout” prototype sheath. This is the laser cut sheath to assure the pattern is correct. Dies are mirrored as they are flipped in use, a lefty die makes righty sheaths. 295
10. BRK Kephart hidden tang prototype. This is the knife that started the Kephart craze where everyone sold a “Kephart”. This was a prototype made from a 12c27 hidden tang blade with Osage Orange handle. The concept obviously worked and the following knives were full tang. 295
11, 12, 13, 14. Springbok (Sheath Sample), PEEK custom knife (Got in a trade somewhere), Ansgar (unfinished sheath sample), American Knife Co. Forest (test sample for write-up).
Integrity test…. Make me a reasonable offer, I know the integrity of this group so I know you’ll be fair. Don’t disappoint me.
All of these are CONUS to your door so long as it’s by CC or PP-F&F

Just wrapped up restocking the Walk In humidor. The boss HAS TO take on the rotten, dirty, nasty, hard job of tasting the new lines added to the inventory... I would never ask anyone else to do such a task. Right now I'm tasting a Perdomo Lot 23 Belicoso, it's very highly rated and I can see why. Lot 23 is a step beyond a Nicaraguan Puro; Lot 23 represents the "lot" where of all of the to***co was grown. That's very unusual and demonstrates the skill of the blender making sure the cigar isn't a one note composition, this is a very complex medium full smoke. Pop in a try one, you'll like it.

As Cigar and Pipe lovers we often hear about the dangers of smoking ci**rs. I won't ever say that it's good for you because there's a danger in everything, including a study that has found s*x as a hazard to health.
Still, the arguments we hear from the medical community and worse yet the anti-smoking zealots tell us is based on studies and research about CIGARETTE smoking. Not enough research has been dome on Premium Ci**rs or Pipes while Cigarette studies have been ongoing since the 1950s or even earlier.
Much of this misapplied data is being used to push for legislation to regulate Premium Ci**rs, sort of like applying the same safety standards to a passenger car or SUV that we do to a Semi. Highway Flares or reflectors, a driver’s log, air brakes and so on. Those regulations make sense for semis, but I’m not about to keep a log accounting for how much sleep I get in a 24 hour period.
The ingredients in a cigar are time and water. Premium ci**rs are made entirely from whole-leaf to***co that has been aged extensively – and that’s it. They are made whole leaf to***co which is aged and fermented, like wine before being assembled by hand into a cigar. There are standards regarding the composition of a cigar with the bundle, binder and wrapper all being to***co leaf.
Ci******es on the other hand are loaded with artificial burning agents and additives, plus the paper and the filter. Often ci******es are made with additives, up to 25% or the weight of the cigarette. The added chemicals combined with inhalation is where a great deal of the danger comes from
We all know that none of you inhale, right? If you do, you shouldn’t both for the health concern and you missing most of the flavor, a huge part of the enjoyment of a premium cigar.
Enough from me, I’m NOT an expert on the medical aspects; my specialty is helping my customers and friends select the best cigar or pipe to assure and awesome experience.
My point here is this NEW study of the effects of CIGAR smoking compared to ci******es. Written by legitimate researchers in a true research format including sources and information as to who paid for the study. It’s a good sized PDF for you to download but a worthwhile read if you’re one of us who loves learning.
My book review would read, interesting subject, well delivered and written but the character development and plot suck. Still take some time and read it. Attached is the file
Mortality among male cigar and cigarette smokers in the USA - Harm Reduction Journal Background Ci**rs and ci******es are both smoked, but much less is known about the former’s long-term health effects, due to its low prevalence and infrequent collection of cigar information in national surveys. Purpose We conducted a follow-up mortality study of cigar-smoking men age 40–79 year...

Real Cuban vs. Fake..
The Upman is real... the R&J is counterfeit.
Look at the wrapper... real is smooth with very small veins. Counterfeit wrapper is rough with varicose veins.
Look at the label... real is perfectly printed, lined up like a $100 bill, embossed and the gold looks like gold.
Counterfeit the printing is offset, note the name misaligned (gold band covering the white letters).
Note the depth of the embossing.
Now you know.
We're expecting a bunch or Bark River Knives fans this weekend: welcome, glad to see ya.
You should stop into the shop, to say hello, and check out some knives and our awesome selection of ci**rs, fresh from our humidor.
To make this event even better I went through "Reid's Stash" for knives that have been sitting in boxes for several years. They all need new homes where they'll be loved and cared for. Lots of them are rare, discontinued models or prototypes from designing sheaths that would be the centerpiece of anyone's collection. Bark Rivers, Blackjack even a Tope Bulldog, and some of the old KSF/Bark River Scagels and MACV Vehement/Bark River models.
Several of the knives from my Stash sport hand carved sheaths, not tooled but classically carved in my old shop. I have a couple of cool folders here, if you know me you know my preference for the unusual pocket knives.
The best deals happen when you're standing at the counter; something about the look of lust as someone handles a knife and just KNOWS they need it that makes me feel a bit more generous. You need to stop in this weekend to save yourself from kicking yourself in the ass when you see someone else bragging on their find, knowing that it could have been yours. Hope to see ya here...

Just got some fresh "Freehand Pipes" in the shop.
Freehand means the pipe maker pretty much allowed the briar to decide it's final shape. They are as much sculpture as they are smoking pipes.
These are fabulous from three well known artisans. Stop in and check them out and visit the humidor for some of our new cigar selection

Peterson Pipes are to pipe smokers, what a Randall is to knives.
We carry both knives and pipes in the Mantuary and I'm a lover of both.
I received an incredible birthday present today, this being one of the milestone birthdays it's even better.
Among the "Grails" in Peterson Pipes is the "House Pipe" intended to be smoked sitting in a comfy chair for a few hours rather than the typical everyday smoke.
I've lusted after a Peterson House Pipe for a long time but never seemed to find a need or purpose for one. Now that I'm officially a Codger, I can get away with sitting by a fire or in a big old chair while smoking a huge bowl of awesome pipe to***co in a house pipe.
Well.... I got one for my birthday from Maggie.... she hit a home run with this gift; I'll cherish it forever and smoke it as often as I can.
To give you an idea of what a house pipe is....
In my hand is one of my everyday Petersons, a 313, which is a standard sized pipe.
The next picture is my new House Pipe in the same hand.... huge difference. BTW, the band is Sterling Silver, hand fitted to the pipe like Peterson has been doing it for 100 years.
If you're a pipe smoker or have grand dads pipe waiting for the next generation to use it, stop by the shop...
