Ready to save a life? Join us for a hands-on Opioid Overdose Response Training where you’ll learn practical skills to take action when it matters most. You will learn about Good Samaritan protections, how to spot an overdose, how to respond safely, and why naloxone is effective. Take advantage of this opportunity to connect with local resources that support our community. In addition, participants will receive a free naloxone kit to take home. Come learn, connect, and be part of a life‑saving movement!

This program is presented in partnership with the Health Department.

Four years later, I receive an acceptance letter from Dracadia University, one of the oldest, most prestigious schools in the country. Nestled on a secluded island off the coast of Maine, it's rumored to be haunted by the souls of the mental patients exiled there centuries before. Those whose bones are said to make up the island's white sandy shores.

And restless ghosts aren't even its most daunting peculiarity. Devryck Bramwell, known on campus as Doctor Death, is a brilliant pathologist in charge of the midnight lab. He's also my devastatingly handsome professor, who seems to loathe tenacious first-years, like me. Except, his dark and enigmatic gaze tells me all the ways he'd devour me if given the chance, and his stolen kisses burn my lips with forbidden jealousy.

I crave his authority. He aches for redemption. Together, we're toxic. Delicious fodder for the prying eyes hellbent on exhuming the rotted skeletons of our pasts. 💀

For the dead have much to teach, and it's only a matter of time before Dracadia's most depraved secret is resurrected.

📢 Step into the world of Appalachia and celebrate the power of a great story!

Join us at the Main Library in Lillington as we kick off our NEA Big Read with a special community celebration inspired by Barbara Kingsolver’s Demon Copperhead. 📚 Set in the mountains of Appalachia, the novel explores themes of family, resilience, community, and finding your place in the world. 🌄 This will be a year-long community read with several events this fall and early next year!

Experience a little piece of history with Camp Flintlock, who will bring the past to life with an exciting colonial faire featuring historical demonstrations and activities. Enjoy live music that connects to the cultural traditions and musical heritage reflected throughout the novel. 🎵

And, of course, we’ll have free copies of Demon Copperhead available for attendees (on a first-come, first-served basis) who want to join us for the Big Read!
