Gain hands-on experience from day one!

At Gannon University, Environmental Science & Engineering students begin applying what they learn in their first semester through courses such as Environmental Science (ENV 120) and Introduction to Engineering & computing (ENG 102).

From field investigations and environmental monitoring to design projects and laboratory activities, students develop practical skills while exploring real-world environmental challenges.

The best way to learn environmental science and engineering is to do it.

Access extraordinary natural resources.

From Lake Erie to regional wetlands, streams, and watershed systems, our students learn beyond the classroom through immersive, hands-on experiences in environmental science and engineering. These natural resources become living laboratories for field sampling, water quality analysis, ecological research, sustainability projects, and real-world problem solving.

At Gannon University, the environment around us is part of the learning experience.

Students in our Air Pollution course presented their final class projects this week.

Their topics covered transportation emissions, agricultural air pollution, indoor air quality, occupational health, and other sources of air pollution.

Nice work by everyone as they wrapped up the semester 👏

Our Environmental Engineering students are testing electrocoagulation as a treatment method for construction runoff—and the early results are promising. Initial tests are showing 85–90% removal of suspended solids, a big step toward cleaner, more sustainable water management.

This is what hands-on engineering looks like: testing, learning, and improving in real time.
We’re excited to see where the final design takes us.

Learning. Presenting. Connecting.

Our students and faculty represented Gannon Engineering & Computing at the ASEE North Central Section Conference 2026—sharing their work and engaging with the broader engineering community.

Hands-on learning and faculty mentorship in action.

Proud of our students 👏

The Environmental Science and Engineering department welcomed a professor and two students from the Arctic University of Norway to speak about their research.

This involved risk assessment regarding different water systems, and how this risk assessment can protect human and environmental health. This was a great opportunity for students to learn about different risk assessment application to water quality. Thank you to Dr. Eregno for his insight on risk assessment!!
