Paul McCartney's profound wisdom has been singing to me for the last few weeks as I have closed out my 25 years at Mercyhurst University. The expressions of love and respect and appreciation have been deeply moving, overwhelming. In The End...it seems I am leaving with more than my share. To my colleagues alumni, and students that I have not personally acknowledged, thank you from the bottom of my Mercyhurst 💚

Senior Public History students have the opportunity to conduct interviews as part of their capstone projects. The interviews will add to the 40 or so recorded by Larie Pintea back in the 1990s, while also greatly enriching the overall institutional history of Mercyhurst as we head toward our Centennial. Indeed, this is an initiative of the Historical Subcommittee of the Mercyhurst Centennial Task Force established by President Getz in 2021. The Mercyhurst history and memories being offered by our interviewees have been substantive, colorful, and quite often deeply moving. Lily Smith and Isabella Lee, two of our finest Public History students and Mercyhurst Lakers down to their bones, are getting the senior capstone experience of a lifetime.

This First-Year Friday, meet Yekaterina (Kat)! She’s a freshman history major from Erie who is currently taking European History to the Renaissance and World History to the Atomic Age! She chose to major in history because she finds it very interesting and hopes to pursue a career in law in the future!

Welcome to the Hurstorian family, Kat!

With the History Department, students have the opportunity to take trips off-campus to places such as the Hagen History Center! What a fantastic way to learn about history outside of Mercyhurst’s gates!

We are so proud of what our students and faculty are up to! Recently, senior Eva Phillips and archivist Bryan Colvin gave a presentation at the Harborcreek Historical Society. Great job, Hurstorians!
