Meet John. In 2025, the BUILD Street Outreach team helped John from pre-operation to recovery for a life-changing surgery. Now in 2026, John has been employed and stably housed for over half a year. This is Street Outreach - building trust to remove barriers.

A New Grip on Life In June 2025, John had been living with essential tremors for nearly 15 years. The uncontrollable shaking in his hands shaped every part of his day. “I got used to wearing my food instead of eating it,” he shared.

Our team was able to partner with Community Shelter Services recently for life-saving skills like administering Narcan, Stop the Bleed, and CPR.

Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs recently reported that more than 800,000 doses of Narcan contributed to nearly 12,000 overdose reversals. Training and education matters when it comes to saving lives.

With frigid winter temperatures continuing early in the new year, we are thankful for First Presbyterian Church of Harborcreek's generous and ongoing support to our community. Pictured is the large donation of winter clothing provided by the Church.

’Tis the season…for respiratory illness.

That’s why the Erie County Department of Health - Pennsylvania partnered with BUILD’s outreach team to provide COVID tests and respiratory masks to those who need them most.

Over the past few days, BUILD’s team has been distributing these supplies in shelters and warming centers - places where prevention can make an enormous difference for an already-vulnerable population. The timing couldn’t be better, as ECDH reports an uptick in respiratory illnesses across the Erie region.

Members of the UPMC Hamot Aid Society brought a tremendous amount of winter gear and items for our neighbors in need before today's quarterly lunch. As the chill and wet of the season starts, BUILD is truly thankful for this donation.

Spreading blessings around Erie!

We're spotlighting two local congregations for creating blessing bags for our community. Emmanuel Presbyterian Church (100) and Elmwood Avenue Presbyterian Church (25) donated these blessing bags to Our Neighbors' Place Seasonal Overflow Shelter and various local agencies.

BUILD CDC, Hamot Health Foundation, and UPMC Health Plan Neighborhood Center - Erie partnered up to keep our community fed with 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐝 & 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲!

BUILD CDC would like to recognize and thank Meghan Fuhrman, her MedPath students, and the staff from Cathedral Preparatory School for collecting over 350 items to help keep our Erie neighbors in Erie warm this Winter.

BUILD CDC and Mercy Center for Women partnered up for a healthy and sustainable food security program. Together, we will grow leafy greens and share delicious recipes over the month of December!
