Juneteenth celebrations return to Erie with events throughout Erie and culminating in Perry Square featuring live music, food, and speakers. Additionally, programming will be provided by the Office of Veterans Affairs which will honor the contributions, culture, and military service of Black Americans and Black veterans.

Purple Martins, a type of swallow, are entirely dependent on human-provided nest boxes in this region. Look for their (often elaborate) cavity condos on Presque Isle, surrounding the TREC, or in rural backyards throughout Erie County.

Celebrate Pride for two weekends in June beginning with the annual Pride Parade on State Street followed by Pride on the Bay – both events aim to “make waves” in Erie as the community is encouraged to “bring your joy, bring your voice as you march to be seen, heard, and celebrated.”
