Ribbon Cutting Brings new Albion Pharmacy Closer to Opening Day A ribbon cutting in Albion today brings a new Colonial Family Pharmacy one step closer to opening. It comes as rural pharmacies continue to disappear nationwide.

LECOM Health today held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its third Colonial Family Pharmacy. Despite the rain, it was a wonderful event. Thank you to everyone who joined us!

This pharmacy, located at 210 E. State St., Suite 2, in Albion, is strategically placed next to our primary care clinic, Northwestern Area Health Center, reducing barriers, shortening the path from diagnosis to treatment, and strengthening continuity of care. That practical convenience translates directly into healthier lives.

When Albion lost its pharmacy in January 2024, the community lost a vital healthcare anchor. For many residents, it created what’s often called a “pharmacy desert,” where access to essential medications and pharmacist support becomes limited or even burdensome.

Whether it’s answering questions, supporting chronic care, or simply providing a friendly face, this pharmacy will play a vital role in the daily lives of so many people in Albion and western Erie County.

A new pharmacy brings vitality, renewed energy and shows confidence in our community and contributes to its growth and resilience.
