The Belly Up community mourns the loss of the original owner and founder Dave Hodges, who passed away on February 4th, 2026. In 1974, against the advice of friends who thought the concept on Cedros Avenue would surely go "Belly Up," Dave built the venue into something truly special. The Belly Up, The City of Solana Beach, and local music community and beyond, would not be the same without him and his influence. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his wife Heidi and the Hodges family. Rest in Peace Dave ♥️
