If you’re trying to develop your chakras, you might be thinking you need breathing exercises, visualizations, Kundalini yoga, or Ashtanga, but actually, the centers unfold as your consciousness develops.

Instagram would love for you to believe that a technique aimed at the chakras themselves is what opens them.

Instead, here’s what you need to know:

Millions of years ago, humanity was building the etheric body. Then the astral body. That work is finished. Going back to it now is repeating a grade you already passed.
The work of this age is the higher mind, which includes the esoteric ways you use energy in the world.

You use your centers one of two ways: to experience the material world, or to express the soul. Learn to express the soul through them and they develop and unfold naturally.

The old techniques carry a cost. As you advance and gain more power to make an impact, forcing the centers will cause imbalances in your personality and in your mental, emotional, and physical life.

So which way did you use your centers today?

If you’re finally ready to stop forcing your chakras open, comment MAP for my free quiz. It shows where you stand on the path from personality to soul.

Avoiding evil.
Accomplishing good.
Purifying the mind and heart.
This is the teaching of all Buddhas.

If you’ve ever felt small next to the size of the world’s problems, I’m here to share with you that you truly are not alone.

Today is the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons. Luis A. Hernández R.’s book, At the Atomic Threshold: From Hiroshima to Planetary Custody, names what this moment asks of us: power held in trust for the whole.

Humanity stands at a delicate point. Our knowledge has outgrown our capacity to hold it, and the gap closes one person, one community, one choice at a time. Each of us has a part in giving the planet, our communities, and the people around us the strength to evolve through this:

1. Keep your own mind steady through meditation, so fear doesn’t make your decisions.

2. Practice goodwill in the places you already stand: your home, your town, your work.

3. Tell the truth about risk and support the people doing the slow work of diplomacy.

4. Choose harmlessness in small things. It trains us for the large ones.

Where do you feel called to build trust right now? Tell us in the comments.

This is where I am in my understanding of these issues right now. I’m not a geopolitical expert, and I’m continuing to learn. But as I’ve been trying to understand what is happening with Israel and Palestine, the U.S., the UN, and multilateralism, I keep recognizing something deeply connected to the spiritual developmental process I teach.
And that’s why I think this matters.
As we develop spiritually, there comes a point when the values that have organized the personality begin to be challenged by something larger.
The personality has learned to survive: to protect itself, maintain control, secure what it needs and look after its own interests. None of this is inherently wrong. We need an integrated personality.
But eventually spiritual development asks more of us.
Can we recognize ourselves as part of a larger whole? Can cooperation matter even when it costs us something? Can principles still matter when following them feels less safe? Can power become responsibility rather than simply the ability to protect our own interests?
The personality can resist this because the old way often feels safer.
And I see an extraordinary parallel in what we’re watching collectively.
Nations need security and have legitimate interests. But humanity is also attempting something larger: building institutions, laws and agreements through which nations accept limits on their own power because they recognize that we are interconnected.
That doesn’t mean giving institutions unchecked authority. Institutions can become corrupt too. They need accountability.
The challenge is creating systems where power is accountable to principle AND the institutions enforcing those principles are accountable too.
This is why I don’t believe spiritual development is separate from what happens in the world.
What we develop internally becomes what we create collectively.
The values we actually learn to live eventually become the values from which we build the world.
If you want to explore where you are in this developmental process, comment QUIZ and I’ll send you an assessment to help you see whether you’re primarily operating through personality values or beginning to ground soul values in your life.

You have been called too sensitive since you were about nine. You learned to apologize for the thing you walk into a room already knowing.

Nobody told you it was equipment.

The heart is an organ of transmutation. Suffering is drawn to it, the heart changes what that suffering is, and something else leaves. Tonglen is how you use that on purpose.

On purpose is the whole phrase. You choose a time. You choose a person. You sit down, you do the work, and then you stop. Walking around permanently open to everything is not the practice and it never was. Equipment gets switched on for a task and switched off after.

What the practice does:

Suffering is genuinely reduced through a heart developed to receive it
The heart develops further by being used this way
You stop being afraid of pain, and your relationship to it changes, in their life and in your own

Where has your sensitivity been running with no instruction?

Comment TONGLEN and I will send you the course, including how to stay in compassion and how to close the practice properly.

If you’ve built the career, the house, and the reputation, you might be thinking you’ve done life well. The soul keeps a different ledger.

Our culture would love for you to believe that achievement is the scorecard.
Instead, here’s what you need to know:

The soul keeps what you built in love, wisdom, and right use of will. Those qualities are stored and return with you.

The money, titles, and praise stay here. They were tools for the lesson.

Success lived for the self builds a habit of wanting, and that habit comes back too.

If you’re finally ready to stop measuring your life by what you can’t take with you, comment MAP for my free soul stage quiz.

Do you think Mamdani or Trump are expressing the higher or lower energies of their souls?

At the lower expression, Leo Rising can look like:
• “I am the center.”
• A need for recognition, admiration, or loyalty.
• Leadership that concentrates power around the individual.
• Strong identification with being the leader.
• Personal charisma used to strengthen personal influence.
• The group becoming an extension of the individual.
• Pride, self-importance, or difficulty relinquishing control.

But the higher expression of Leo doesn’t require becoming smaller or less powerful.
It changes what that power is FOR.

At the higher expression, Leo Rising can look like:
• “I am a center of light.”
• Visibility accepted as a responsibility rather than sought for validation.
• Leadership that develops other leaders.
• Individual strength placed in service to something greater than the individual.
• Charisma used to awaken, encourage, and mobilize others.
• Power distributed in ways that strengthen the group.
• A strong, self-aware individual who no longer needs everything to revolve around the personal self.

The movement is subtle but profound:

From wanting the group to recognize the individual → to using the individual to strengthen the group.

From “follow me” → to “let us do the work.”
From being the center → to becoming a conscious center within the whole.

This is one of the fundamental ideas behind esoteric astrology: the same astrological energy can look radically different depending upon the consciousness expressing it.

So when you see Leo strongly emphasized in someone’s chart, especially in a leader, don’t only ask whether they are charismatic, confident, visible, or powerful.

Ask: What is their power serving?

Angels have a name in the Eastern teachings: devas. On Saturday we’re gathering to work with them.

The Deva Healing circle meets at the Black Hills Spiritual Center for Peace on September 12, 5:30–7:15 PM. We’ll spend the first half hour grounding in the Trans-Himalayan teachings and how deva invocation actually works, then an hour in the invocation itself, then time to close and integrate.

The work moves through three levels. Globally, clearing what blocks the will-to-good on this planet. Locally, calling on the nature devas for our water, our biodiversity, our food, our climate resilience here in the Hills. And individually — for our local leaders, for humanitarian efforts, and for a personal healing request you can include when you register.

Chairs provided. Come in something comfortable, eat lightly beforehand, bring water or tea.

This is part of our private offerings at Rose Awakening, so registration takes a moment to confirm. Link in bio, or scan the code on the first slide.

Held by Megan Rose and Dr. Luis A. Hernández Ríos.
