I was born into what maybe I thought was a sea of water less than a week after Eddie Aikeau disappeared into a sea of water. It was actually a tub of water 💦 as my Mom had planned.

7 years ago was the last time The Eddie Aikeau ran….and the next day I caught that same ocean energy/swell on a day I won’t forget in Oceanside. That pic of me is from my snapped board when the last Eddie swell hit SD. You win some, and you loose some, ha! 😆

Congrats on your second place finish at The Eddie yesterday, as well as your historic win the last time the contest ran: February 25th, 2016. I was fortunate to surf with you a few years prior to that win at my old home break - Oceanside Harbor - North Jetty. Here’s to you big dog! 🍻 🍻 🍻

After my childhood and high school years were dominated by ice hockey, I picked up surfing in college and fell in love with the ocean…enough to move to SD immediately after I graduated from college. It became all consuming….even consumed my favorite board that day.

Sidenote: here’s to Ding King in Encinitas for ‘frankenstein repairing’ my snapped board back together!! Still is ridable to this day, ha!
