We often focus on the big moments in relationships, but connection is usually built through the small ones.

A thoughtful text. A hand squeeze. A shared laugh. A sincere apology. A partner remembering your coffee order or asking how your day went.

These moments are called glimmers: small experiences that help us feel safe, seen, supported, and connected.

The more we notice these moments, the more we train ourselves to recognize the strengths in our relationships. This doesn't mean ignoring challenges or pretending everything is perfect. It means making space to acknowledge the moments that foster trust, closeness, and emotional safety.

This week, try asking yourself:

- What made me feel loved today?

- When did I feel supported by my partner?

- What is one glimmer I noticed in our relationship this week?

You might be surprised by how many are already there.

A lot of people think therapy means “having someone tell you what to do.” In reality, therapy is a place to reflect, process, & learn new ways to have relationship with yourself & others.

Whether you’re navigating stress, relationships, anxiety, life transitions, or personal growth, therapy can be a space for meaningful learning & change.

One of our therapists, Marissa Massimini, recently got married & honeymooned in Switzerland, which inspired us to reflect on the role adventure & new experiences can play in our relationships.

Travel often creates opportunities for connection through exploring, taking risks, slowing down, & creating memories together. While we can’t always hop on a plane to another country, we can intentionally create moments of novelty & connection in our everyday lives.

Trying a new restaurant, visiting a new place locally, taking a class together, or exploring a shared hobby can all help build closeness & strengthen connection over time.

Sometimes connection grows most in the moments where we experience something new together

Acts of service are often less about the task itself & more about the message underneath it:

“I see you.”

“I’m thinking about you.”

“You don’t have to carry everything alone.”

Small moments of care tend to build emotional intimacy over time.

Human connection impacts nearly every aspect of emotional wellbeing.

Feeling understood, supported, & emotionally safe in our relationships can deeply influence how we experience stress, healing, & belonging.

Rest is not just sleep.

Many people feel exhausted in relationships because they are emotionally “on” all the time, anticipating conflict, overfunctioning, or carrying invisible emotional labor.

Healthy relationships can become a place of restoration, not just responsibility.

Sometimes the most important relationship conversations happen internally first.

Trying harder is not always the same thing as growing together. Reflection can help clarify whether a relationship is being nurtured, avoided, repaired, or simply prolonged.

You are allowed to ask yourself honest questions.

Relationships require compromise, not self-erasure.

If you constantly feel like you’re shrinking yourself to maintain connection, it may be time to ask whether the relationship is truly sustainable in its current form.

Healthy relationships allow both people to feel seen, respected, & whole.
