This is it, the final day to file if you extended your 1040 tax return! Don't let it slip you by!!!

Charitable donations...deductible but without tax on certain assets. The goal here is to realize a gain on investment tax-FREE. To qualify it must meet these requirements:
Direct transfer (DO NOT SELL FIRST)
Transfer to an IRS qualified charitable organization
Transfer stock, bonds, or mutual funds directly
Must be held for a year or more before the transfer
Any gain on the investments are tax-free
You get the full fair-market-value at the time of donation for your donation
If you already itemize, the charitable deduction will increase your deduction on Schedule A
Since you didn't sell the asset, NO TAXABLE GAIN to recognize
If you really wanted to keep holding that investment for the long-term, you can do that too by rebuying it again. Utilize the cash you were going to donate and buy back the stock so you still hold your position in it. Have a wonderful day!
