Earlier this year, PURE FUNK (the band) released "Free and Happy" the first ballad released publicly by this internationally popular 1970's era funk band from San Francisco. This amazing musical poem which was recorded in 1976, features Thomas Griffin and Bill Speed on lead vocals along with the band's truly remarkable rhythm section and high energy horns. Well...it's been awhile since we've had much news to share. And we sincerely would like to thank all of our followers for sticking with us throughout the past and especially during these couple of pandemic years. We hope you all are well and staying safe.

And finally, we're excited to have some great news to share. Within the next few weeks we will release our next tune, a ballad, called "Free and Happy". It will initially be available by digital download and streaming. More news to come soon so stay tuned...

For those who don't already know, you can now stream and download two of our hit tunes, "Nothing Left Is Real" and "Getaway", on ITunes, Spotify, Deezer, Juno, Apple Music, Amazon, Emusic USA, Google Play, and eMusic Europe. Stay tuned for new releases soon...

In the meantime, back in the mid 1970s just prior to our first release on Planet Earth records, we did a promotional photo shoot in Los Angeles. I don't remember who the photographer was, but if you're still around please get in touch.

In any event, while going through some old files I found some of the proof sheets from those photo sessions and will release the images over time starting with this one that if I remember correctly, was shot near the top of a shopping mall.
